Kuala Lumpur, Oct.18 ANI: To mark the 300th anniversary of the Guru Granth Sahib, a production house in Malaysia has decided to distribute 10,000 compact discs containing hymns and chants from the Guru Granth Sahib free of cost in the country and in other Southeast Asian countries. The Shahab Kirtan compact disc, produced by Goldkartz Production, will feature Bhangra artiste siblings Manjit Singh, Ranjit Kaur Gill and Sukhjit Singh Gill, and would also be distributed in Hong Kong and London, reports the New Strait Times. According to Manjit, the CD made its debut at the Gurpuri Sikh Children's Home in Ampang, where it was distributed free to the residents there. Sukhjit said the idea to produce fusion music with a modern connotation was to encourage the younger generation to listen to the hymns with a different blend of music. Malaysian National Sikhs Movement president Tan Sri G. Darshan Singh welcomed the move and said it was a noble way of encouraging the younger generation to appreciate the significance of the celebration. ANI
